Leading FX provider to open ten further bureaux at world’s best airport

Travelex, the global travel money services business, is to double its bureaux, terminal and staff footprint at Singapore Changi Airport having won the tender for a new five-year contract at the major Asian hub and twelve times World’s Best Airport winner.

Travelex has provided retail travel money services at Changi since June 2016, operating ten bureaux across Terminals 2 and 3. The new contract, which will run from July 2024 to July 2029, will see Travelex establish a further ten bureaux across the airport, including in Terminals 1 and 4. The expanded bureaux footprint will also see staff levels more than double, from 65 team members to 135.

Located across arrivals, departures and transit areas, Travelex’s Changi bureaux are open 24/7 and offer the airport’s nearly 60 million annual travellers a full suite of travel money services, including over-the-counter conversion of more than 50 currencies.

The tender win at Changi represents a major milestone for Travelex as it continues to expand its retail presence across the world’s leading airports. Last year Changi was named the World’s Best Airport at the World Airport Awards for a record 12th time, as well as winning the awards for World's Best Airport Dining and World's Best Airport Leisure Amenities.

The news of Travelex’s tender win at Changi also comes as travel to both Singapore and across Asia continues to rebound. The latest IATA figures show that Asia-Pacific airlines have seen a 27% year-on-year increase in demand vs May 2023. This performance maintains Asian carriers as the largest contributor to industry-wide growth in May, accounting for 42% of the total global year-on-year demand increase.

Richard Wazacz, Travelex CEO, said:

“We are immensely proud of our relationship with Changi, an airport that is widely acknowledged as one of the best in the business. Extending our contract and doubling our footprint is therefore a real vote of confidence in the Travelex business as travel across Asia continues to rebound at pace.

“Convenience is at the heart of our proposition and establishing ten more bureaux, including across two further terminals, means we will be able to serve more travellers at Changi than ever before.”
